Chester Royal Infirmary - Client: Taylor Woodrow
This site holds a prominent position between the inner ring road and the historic city walls of Chester. Careful liaison with the Planning Authorities was essential in order to achieve this urban solution on such a sensitive site.
106 apartments, houses and town houses are set out around a series of courtyards with a gradation of density from four storey apartments at the interface with the passing ring road, to two storey terraced houses facing green landscaping where the site faces on to the city walls and the river beyond.
A central landscaped walkway through the site provides public thoroughfare and creates a focus on the historic tower on the adjacent city walls at its end.
