Jane Darbyshire OBE BA (Hons) BArch(Hons) RIBA
Jane Darbyshire has been in practice since 1979, founding Jane Darbyshire Associates in 1987 and subsequently converting to the limited company of Jane Darbyshire and David Kendall Ltd. She led the practice until her retirement in 2000, although she remains a Consultant.
Jane trained at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, from where she also travelled to Japan and the United States with scholarships. She was personally responsible for many award winning buildings including St Oswald's Hospice (RIBA Building of the Year 1989). Amongst many appointments to other organisations, she has been a member of RIBA Council, an External Examiner at the University of Newcastle and is currently a member of the Prince's Foundation Panel of Practitioners. In 1994 Jane received an OBE for Services to Architecture.
