The Rivergreen Centre, Aykley Heads, Durham
April 2006 saw the completion of this landmark office development, which has since gone on to win many architectural awards, including an RIBA Regional Award.
40,000sqft of managed office and conference space has been created where the planning, orientation, massing, structure, materials selection and building services are all designed to deliver sustainable, environmental and performance benefits. Such features include a central 'earth rammed' wall, recycled rainwater, natural and stack ventilation and an extensive growing roof. Full Planning Approval was received in June 2004 and work started on site in November 2004 and finished April 2006.
Despite the site’s greenfield, out of town location the scheme has been awarded a BREEAM rating of 'Excellent'.
